Coffee is Healthy?

Really, who knew? I was just reading this morning about how coffee can be good for you, in numerous ways. Now I quit drinking coffee several years ago… it was a bit unintentional but I discovered chai. And while I know that there is a drastic difference between (what I call) “coffee-house chai” and real chai, I still tend to prefer either of those to any kind of coffee.  Also to be honest, while I did tolerate regular american coffee for several years I have always preferred the espresso kind. I guess my favorite coffee would have to be a latte. Come to think of it I remember hearing something about how a smidgen of espresso a day is good for you, sortof like that one glass of red wine a day thing. Perhaps I should pick up drinking coffee again. Just something to think about.

  1. It is true! 1-2 cups of coffee a day have been found to be healthful.

I read an article that found that inhaling the aroma of fresh ground coffee was also beneficial. The aroma therapists out there might know more about that.

This is not an excuse from a doctor to abuse caffiene. Most people are over-caffienated.

So my advice is, pick one source you enjoy, like coffee and abstain from soda or other caffiene laden beverages. Besides soda is BAD for you. Coffee GOOD.

  2. Coffee is actually good for your asthma, too. Take it from a serial coffee drinker, and chronic asthma sufferer. When you have an attack, just gulp down a hot mug of coffee, and see how your asthma relieves gradually. The scientific reason is caffeine contains theophylline which is a known medication for asthma as a bronchodilator.

  3. I drink quite a bit of coffee throughout the day, about 3-4 cups a day. I am an asthma sufferer and I have noticed and been told by a coworker, that coffee helps me with my asthma.

But, I also have other health ailments that prevented me from drinking regular coffee. I tried the decaf coffee but it did not give me the jolt I needed.

I recently started drinking another kind of coffee, that has reishi mushroom in it and it has really helped me tremendously. I not only can now enjoy the full taste of roasted coffee beans, but I am also getting some health benefits. In addition to my asthma problems improving, I have been having problems sleeping for many years. It was not due to the coffee, I usually stop drinking it by late morning to mid afternoon. But every night, I would fall asleep, no problem, but during the night I would wake up and stay awake. I even workout every day. Well, now I am actually sleeping throughout the night with this new coffee. Imagine that!

Thank you for letting me share….
